Belief delivers a direct command to your nervous system. Using the power of belief properly, beliefs can be the most powerful forces for creating good in your life. To change our own behaviors, we must first start with beliefs. Belief is nothing more than a state, an internal representation that governs behavior. When you really believe something is true, you immediately go into a state of it’s being true and your actions will follow automatically. It’s important to guard your mind so only the proper beliefs enter. Without them or the ability to tap into them, people can become totally disempowered.
One person with a belief is equal to a force of ninety-nine who have only interests.
John Stuart Mill (1806-1873)
Mill was an English philosopher, political economist, feminist, and civil servant. He was an influential contributor to social theory, political theory and political economy. Also known as J. S. Mill, was an English political philosopher and economist who was a supporter of utilitarianism. The book Magic of Believing, by the late Claude M. Bristol, gets into the depth of this great quote.
