Sadly many people lose touch with their immortal Soul as Paramahansa Yogananda puts it. Sometimes our busy world takes our physiological selves away from wholeness and from being grounded. In this state we get confused and lose touch with our true identity. This is where suffering begins. Although there are many types of physical suffering brought on from outside forces, it’s important to maintain control of staying withing our immortal Soul because it will minimize the effect of negative external forces upon us.
Man has falsely identified himself with the pseudo-soul or ego. When he transfers his sense of identity to his true being, the immortal Soul, he discovers that all pain is unreal. He no longer can even imagine the state of suffering.
Yogananda (1893-1952)
